Sweden will help Moldova work out radio spectrum management policies

The respective agreement was reached at the bilateral talks of Moldova`s Information Technologies and Communication Minister Pavel Filip with the leadership of the profile ministry of Sweden and of the National Post and Communication Agency held in Stockholm. Pavel Filip said our country is on the threshold of significant changes in management of radio spectrum and development of services accessible for the whole population. The Minister also said Moldova lacks clearly expressed principles in radio spectrum management that would contribute to long-term planning both by the state and service suppliers.
The Secretary of State for IT and Regional Development of Sweden Marita Ljung said her country is considered in the European Union as a telecommunication sector development model, the fact that had become possible thanks to the promoted policies and considered sector administration. In his turn, the director of the National Post and Communication Agency of Sweden Horan Marby said Sweden`s practice in radio spectrum management is based on the technologies and services neutrality principle, encouragement of competitiveness and accessibility. This strategy is welcomed by local operators, enabling them to be flexible and provide services depending on the technologies opportunities, said Horan Marby. Pavel Filip also visited central offices of the TeliaSonera and Ericsson companies, met the leadership of the leading ICT companies and discussed investment promotion opportunities and the IT development tendencies in Moldova with them.

Moldovan acting president meets Chinese delegation

Acting President, Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu had a meeting with a Chinese delegation, headed by the deputy chairman of the Permanent Committee of the Great National Assembly of Chinese People`s Representatives, Sang Guowei, the presidential press service has said.
The officials discussed the consolidation and development of the bilateral relations between Moldova and China, as well as prospects of deepening the parliamentary, economic and humanitarian cooperation.
In the same context, the president displayed interest in the development of concrete bilateral projects in strategic fields, such as: attraction of investments, increase in the assistance quota, road`s infrastructure, modernization of the railway and airports, informational technologies, the energy field, the agricultural sector, in particular, by exporting Moldovan wines on the Chinese market, as well as the development of industrial parks and the creation of a free economic area for Chinese investments in Moldova.

Premier attends inauguration of Moldovan-Finnish business forum

Visiting Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat attended the inauguration of a Moldovan-Finnish business forum held in Helsinki today, the government`s communications and press relations department has said.
Over 40 business people from Moldova and 20 representatives of the biggest Finnish companies participated in the event. Among the attending Finnish companies, there were TeliaSonera, Amanda Capital, Finnfoam, Finnvera, Hubconcepts, Hinkarakenne, Merasco Capital. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Iurie Leanca, Agriculture and Food Minister Vasile Bumacov, and the director of the Land Relations and Cadastre Agency, Anatolie Ghilas, attended the seminar on behalf of the Moldovan government. At the opening of the seminar, Finpro head Kari Hayrinen, said the economic relations between Moldova and Finland are very modest. Yet, the existing potential is great, he stressed. Hayrinen noted that the foruminar will step up the ties between the business people from the two countries, which will make it possible to launch new projects.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat made a short presentation of Moldova, stressing that the country`s European integration is a priority of the Moldovan government. Referring to the economic situation, the prime minister said that a sound economic growth has been ensured over the last two years.
" The prime minister specified that Moldova is a European state, and does its utmost to advance on this path. Vlad Filat also touched upon the negotiations on a free visa regime with the EU, accession to the common aviation area, and creation of a deep and comprehensive free trade area.
"Moldova may be regarded as a bridge between the East and the West, and all the processes launched by the Moldovan government are instruments needed to attract investments. Moldova has an advantage against the countries of the region: liberalized trade regime both with the EU and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)," Vlad Filat said.
Bumacov spoke about the investment advantages that Moldovan offers, such as quality labour force at a reasonable price, good fiscal system, stable economic indexes and access to European and CIS markets. He also said Moldova is proud of its vine-growing and wine-making sectors, and wants to sell these products on as many markets as possible, including in Finland.

Moldovan premier meets leadership of company operating in Giurgiulesti international port

Prime Minister Vlad Filat today met the leadership of the Danube Logistics company, operating in the Giurgiulesti international port [southern Moldova], and managing the Free Economic Zone located in the same area, the government`s communication and press relations service has said.
The participants in the meeting discussed the steps due to be taken to facilitate the activity and to foster the development of the Giurgiulesti port and of the Free Economic Zone, in order to increase the exports from Moldova and to contribute to the economic development. Danube Logistics` chief executive Thomas Moser said that so far, the company has invested about 65 million dollars in the Giurgiulesti international port and has created, jointly with other companies operating in the Free Economic Zone, over 300 new jobs. About 390,000 tones of goods were shipped via the port in 2010, against 100,000 tones in 2009. Moser noted that a terminal for goods` and containers` shipping is to be opened in autumn, noting that this will increase the goods` flow shipped via the Giurgiulesti port. The chief executive added that the company also intends to launch a Giurgiulesti-Istanbul weekly sea route. "The farming sector is a promising one, worth new investments. The government is to come out with a string of measures for its development. We aim at diversifying the exports and we hope that through this port we will be able to ship abroad other goods than petrol and crops, such as meat, for instance," the prime minister said.
As for the need to adjust the customs` normative framework, Filat demanded that a working group made up of the authorities dealing with the goods` checking at the state border, should be set up.

Moldova will buy 10 water monitoring stations within compact program

Within the Compact program founded by the Millennium Challenge Moldova Foundation, the republic will soon buy 10 stations on monitoring amount and quality of surface water. The respective decision was made by the Foundation’s board of observers, who adopted the procurement list within the program for next 6 months.
According to the Government’s press service, new equipment (also including information programs and systems) is necessary to improve water pool management in conformity with the European Union requirements.
The equipment will be supplied to the Hydro-meteorological Service, Ecological Inspectorate and Apele Moldovei agency.
The board also approved an agreement on implementation of the post-harvesting infrastructure credit program (US$12 million) that will be launched in the beginning of October. The agreement will be signed by the Millennium Challenge Moldova Foundation and the Ministry of Finance’s credit line department.
According to Foundation’s Executive Director Valentina Badrajan, 5 commercial banks of Moldova displayed interest in the credit program.
As Infotag has already reported, the Millennium Challenge Corporation was founded in 2004 by the by the U.S. Department of State and aims to develop economies and reduce poverty worldwide. Moldova signed agreement on a preliminary Millennium Challenge program in December 2006, getting US$24.7 million to combat corruption and trafficking. In July 2008, Moldova submitted its first proposals to the Corporation for receiving assistance within the Compact program. Those projects envisaged road repair, transition to a high-level agriculture, energy sector efficiency raising and development of medical services in rural areas (US$518 million).

Moldova hopes to get financial aid from the European Union to implement energy projects of inter-connection with the European power grid

It was said by Moldova’s Prime Minister Vladimir Filat, speaking at the Economic Forum in Krynica. He said Chisinau hopes to get access to the EU’s financial facilities in this sector to cover at least a part of expenses for energy infrastructure development projects. Vladimir Filat underlined that Moldovan authorities support and welcome intensification of the energy integration on the level of the EU states and that Moldova also tries to become a part of this process. The country’s goal is the joint work for creating a consolidated and competitive regional market, well integrated into the all-European market. Moldova became a part of the European Energy Community, the fact that means gradual implementation of the European legislation in this sector.
Prime Minister said the country had been working at modernization of the power infrastructure and bringing it in line with European standards to reach the criteria for joining the Continental European Power Grid. In Filat’s opinion, to realize the ambitious energy program, the EU has to make a more generous offer of cooperation with countries, situated in its immediate proximity, including Moldova that is now presiding the Energy Community. As it was reported earlier, Chisinau and Bucharest plan to implement projects in the field of natural gas and electric power with the EU’s support. The projects provide for construction of the main gas pipeline Ungheni-Iasi and the high-voltage Balti-Suceava transmission line for interconnecting Moldova with the European power grid.

BThe Sudzucker Moldova Company has been fulfilling terms of the sugar supply contract with Bucuria JSC ahead of schedule

InfoMarket Agency was informed about this by Octavian Armasu, member of board of the Sudzucker Moldova’s. He said the company is ready to supply 100 tones of sugar to the largest confectionary plant of the country within the next 2-3 days. Under the contract, the company was to supply this volume of sugar by the end of September. Octavian Armasu emphasized that only from last Friday till Monday, Sudzucker Moldova company had supplied 50 tones of sugar to the Bucuria and it is ready to deliver all contract 100 tones of sugar ahead of schedule and to increase the volume of supplies to the confectionary.

Financial support for children from socially deprived families

More than 1 000 children from Straseni district will receive by 200 lei from the Straseni District Council for purchasing supplies and clothing for the 2011-2012 school year.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, deputy head of the Straseni District Council Sergiu Nicula said money will be given to children from socially underprivileged families. “As many as 1 065 children will receive financial assistance to prepare for the new school year,” he stated.
Sergiu Nicula also said that the decision was taken in a meeting of the Administration Board of the local social support funds. “The money will be allocated from the budgetary funds of the District Council. We will make effort to distribute this money by the end of September,” he said.
Those entitled to assistance can take the money from the post offices of Straseni districts.
