History
Chamber of Commerce Moldova-Belgium was founded in 1997 by the Honorary Consul to Flanders-Belgium of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Ghislain Lenaers. He is also the President of the Chamber.
The Chamber of Commerce Moldova-Belgium operates as non-profit organization providing valuable networking opportunities for all European companies doing business in the country and dedicated to facilitating leadership to create economic prosperity.
The Chamber also works continuously and effectively to make Republic of Moldova a better place; its range of civic activities is wide, including carefully planned and executed programs for positive changes in the community.
The charity activity in the Republic of Moldova takes its rise in early years of existence of the Chamber, as its members were getting more and more aware of low level of development of Moldavian social sector. Thus, by the initiative of the Consul (h) G. Lenaers, a charity fund was created. Belgians, who were developing their business activity in Moldova, could contribute to the improvement of the situation of numerous Moldavian public organizations, such as educational institutions, orphanages, hospitals, asylums, different centers and many other organizations.
